Department of Youth Welfare, Cochin University of Science and Technology is organising a programme ‘Back to Village: Experience through Education’ at Vattavada during 28 – 30, December 2019.
The main objective of the programme is to understand village life and learn values of selfreliance, work and togetherness in village commons. The other objectives are to visit village habitats and interact with people and learn lessons from them on resource use, means of livelihood, poverty, value system, language, social life and cultural life of socially and geographically marginalized groups using unstructured participant observation models / qualitative research methods.
Selection: First come first serve basis. However, the organizers have the right to fix any sub criteria / conditions for the selection.
Accommodation will be arranged on sharing basis with limited facilities. Students are requested to bring their own bedsheets/blankets and personal belongings. Food will be provided during the camp time. A non-refundable contribution of ` 500 will be collected for the welfare activities and common expenses organized in the camp area.
Please read and understand the conditions of the camp and apply in the prescribed form below. Admission will be based on first come first serve basis and the payment of the contribution amount at the earliest. This will be refunded if not selected. However, the amount will not be refunded after the publication of selected list. The first 40 students will be selected with approximately equal male / female proportion. However, Director, Department of Youth Welfare has the power to make changes in the selection process based on the recommendation on merit by the teachers and other staff of the University or appropriate stratification.
All the participants are requested to obey the rules and regulations of the camp. The camp will be a mix of community visit, classes and trek. All should participate in the discussion on the community visit and are requested to submit a written report to the Director within one week. Essential readings will be suggested/distributed 3 to 4 days before the camp.
Consumption of alcohol / smoking / any other stuff won’t be permitted. Any misbehavior will attract disciplinary action. Please understand that this is not a picnic / pleasure camp. Understand the spirit of the camp and be a responsible citizen.
